begin at the beginning...

Looking back, I honestly can't recall exactly when my love affair with books and reading began.  There are, for me, no memories of my parents or grandparents reading to me as a child... nothing that sticks out in my mind as a possible spark that led to the burning desire to read.  It seems that it's just something that has always been; and I suppose that we are all drawn to a number of things in our lives that we can't really explain.  Some things just are... and I believe that often it is those very things that help shape who we are.

Reading has been a constant in my life for as long as I can remember.  Books have always been some of my dearest companions.  Looking back on my life, I wish I had kept journals in which I recorded the myriad of books that I read and the thoughts and feelings I experienced while reading them.  I cannot go back, but I can certainly go forward...
